Dr. David Bejou Named Dean of the College of Business and Social Sciences

Dr. David Bejou has been named the new Dean of the College of Business and Social Sciences at West Virginia State University (WVSU).

Bejou comes to Institute from Elizabeth City State University in Elizabeth City, N.C., where he has served as a professor and dean of the Walter R. Davis School of Business and Economics. He will start at WVSU on August 12.

“This is a very exciting opportunity to work with faculty, staff, students and administrators to fulfill the mission of the College of Business and Social Sciences,” says Bejou. “I also look forward to increasing the level of engagement and involvement with the local business community and creating new opportunities for students and faculty.”

Bejou has more than 30 years of experience in higher education. In addition to serving as dean of the Elizabeth City University School of Business and Economics he also served as the dean of the business schools at Virginia State University and Texas A&M University-Texarkana.

“I am delighted to have someone with Dr. Bejou’s experience join the State family,” says WVSU President Brian O. Hemphill. “His knowledge and abilities will play a key role as we continue to make State the most student-centered research and teaching land-grant University in the state of West Virginia and beyond.”

Bejou earned his Ph.D. in marketing from the University of Memphis. He also holds an MBA in aviation management from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and a bachelor’s degree in English literature and linguistics from the College of Literature and Foreign Language in Iran.

He has published over 50 academic articles and is the author of five books.
