Presented by the West Liberty University Department of Health and Human Performance, an all-day fitness event will feature workouts for students and campus employees from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Friday, Dec. 7. The workouts will take place in the Academic, Sports and Recreation Complex (ASRC).

The entire campus is invited to enjoy Fitness Friday, when student instructors will lead everyone in healthy exercise.

“We want to inspire healthy lifestyles and habits and share what we’ve learned in our courses. We invite everyone to take advantage of Fitness Friday,” said Travis Beihl, senior exercise physiology major and coordinator of the event, who is from Wheeling.

Students in the health, physical education and exercise physiology departments are planning the Fitness Friday and have lined up a wide variety of exercise classes to benefit the Hilltop campus community.

There will be group fitness classes every half hour featuring Zumba, aerobics, Pilates, yoga, toning and boot camp workouts. These 20-minute group fitness classes will take place in the dance studio and on racquetball courts 1 and 2. Exercise instructors will be students from WLU’s Group Fitness Leadership course.

The day also was planned by health and human performance faculty including Melissa Hudson and Kathleen Wack. For more information on Fitness Friday, please contact Beihl by email at: tbeihl@westliberty.edu.

WLU offers bachelor degrees in health education, physical education, exercise physiology and athletic training and also offers a master’s degree with a sport leadership and coaching emphasis in conjunction with the Master of Arts in Education degree. Part of WLU’s College of Education, the health and human performance department is under the direction of faculty Chairwoman Dr. Rhonda Noble and Dean Dr. Keely Camden.
