Girl Scouts of Black Diamond Council Announces New Board Members

Girl Scouts of Black Diamond Council (GSBDC) announced two new board members on Saturday, April 14th at the council’s Annual Meeting at the Grand Pointe Conference Center in Vienna. Jill Parsons, a Parkersburg native and Vienna resident, and Ellen Slotnick, a Charleston native and resident will join the Board of Directors of GSBDC.

“We are delighted to have Jill Parsons and Ellen Slotnick on our board,” Beth Casey, CEO of Girl Scouts of Black Diamond Council said. “Our board members serve in a volunteer capacity over our 61 county council jurisdiction and work tirelessly to make sure that girls in WV, OH, KY, VA and MD receive the best possible Girl Scout Leadership Experience. Jill and Ellen will be valuable additions to support our mission of building girls of courage, confidence and character.”

Jill Parsons, a native of Parkersburg and current resident of Vienna, graduated from Marshall University with a double degree in Health Care Management and Finance, followed by her MBA from the University of South Carolina with a concentration in Marketing. Since December 2010 she has been the President/CEO of the Chamber of Commerce of the Mid-Ohio Valley, overseeing programming and activities for the 380+ member businesses and community organizations.

In the local community, Parsons is most proud of her participation on the following Professional Memberships & Community Activities: Rotary Club of Parkersburg 2017-2018 President, Launchpad Entrepreneur Pitch Contest, Founding Committee Member, Marshall MOV Thundering Bison Alumni Club, Officer, and Mid-Ohio Valley Regional Council and Loan Committee, Board Member.

Ellen Slotnick is a native of Charleston and attended college at the University of Cincinnati, the University of Miami and the University of Charleston. She has a bachelor’s degree in Business Management and Paralegal Studies.

She was a Girl Scout growing up and was an active troop leader with both of her daughters. All three of them are lifetime members of Girl Scouting. Her daughter, Jennifer received her Gold Award, and Ellen is a mentor for other girls working on their Gold Award.

Slotnick is an active member of her community. Her roles have included PTO President at Overbrook Elementary, Chair of GW Project Graduation, Member of the board of directors for Daymark, Inc., and President of B’Nai Jacob’s Synagogue.

The Girl Scouts of Black Diamond Council’s board officers are as follows: Board Chair, Patti Alexander; 1st Vice Chair, Jennifer Runyon; 2nd Vice Chair, Kat Simmons; Secretary, Juli Mock; Treasurer, Allison Ballard.
