Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin, as Commander-In-Chief of the West Virginia National Guard, commended CSX for its support of the state’s National Guard. CSX donated $25,000 to the West Virginia National Guard Foundation, which supports guard members and their families during their time of need.

“Our National Guard does great work both at home and abroad, and I truly appreciate CSX for providing the Foundation with financial assistance to help our guard members when they need it most,” Gov. Tomblin said.

The West Virginia National Guard Foundation provides financial support to guard members such as providing grant funds to homeless guard members, providing lodging money for the families of hospitalized guard members, and assisting with other emergencies and needs. CSX leaders presented the monetary donation to Adjutant General James A. Hoyer.

“Every time disaster strikes the Mountain State, members of the West Virginia National Guard rush to the aid of their neighbors to provide rescue and relief services for our citizens.  These brave men and women answer the call to duty with the utmost professionalism and efficiency in a spirit of kindness and caring,” said J. Randolph Cheetham, CSX’s regional vice president for state relations.  “CSX has a strong history of giving back to the communities through which we operate and we are proud to partner with the West Virginia National Guard Foundation, which supports the members of the Guard and their families who give so much back to their communities.”

The West Virginia National Guard Foundation is a charitable and educational non-profit organization that aims to foster and encourage public appreciation of the contributions of the West Virginia National Guard.
