Every day the news reports on computer threats affecting businesses and the local economy. That is why the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) have teamed up to provide unique, and free training to better prepare small businesses for current threats and help them become more resilient. The event takes place March 25 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Robert Mollohan Research Center in Fairmont.
During the event attendees learn about cyber threats and steps they can implement to improve their company’s defenses, even without technical knowledge. Speaker topics include cyber threats specific to small businesses, how our region has been affected by cyber-crime, resources on how to develop a plan for securing information, types of insurance businesses should be aware of (including cyber insurance) and specific actions companies can take.
The Robert Mollohan Research Center is located at 1000 Technology Drive in Fairmont, WV. Â The workshop is free but registration is required at https://eventbrite.com/event/15696218813/.
