In keeping with presidential proclamation, Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin today has ordered all U.S. and State flags at all State facilities be displayed at half-staff, Thursday, September 11, 2014 to commemorate Patriot Day and the National Day of Service and Remembrance.
“September 11 remains a day of remembrance for all Americans as we pay tribute to those who lost their lives in a senseless tragedy and recognize the brave first responders who stood tall during a time of devastation,” Gov. Tomblin said. “Joanne and I ask all West Virginians to join us in a moment of silence tomorrow morning as we remember the innocent victims who lost their lives 13 years ago and honor all those who continue to fight for our freedom.”
Following tomorrow’s moment of silence at 8:46 a.m., Gov. Tomblin will join first responders and lay a wreath at the West Virginia Fallen Firefighter Memorial, located outside the Culture Center on State Capitol grounds and for a bell ringing ceremony located on the north side of the State Capitol building.
