Being physically active is beneficial for all. Physical activity can reduce the risk of early death, heart disease and cancer. Exercise can improve blood pressure, reduce cholesterol and improve circulation even in those overweight.

With warmer weather headed our way, there’s no better time to get out and exercise.  Healthy Berkeley: It’s Up to Us is hard at work planning ways to help you get active.  Along with Main Street Martinsburg, Healthy Berkeley is planning Main Street Walks.

A kickoff event will be held April 16 at 12 noon on the town square in downtown Martinsburg. The first 50 participants will receive a free healthy bag lunch.  Look for information on the Main Street Martinsburg website, www.mainstreetmartinsburg.com.  Join others in Martinsburg who are getting active and healthy!

Healthy Berkeley: It’s Up to Us is a community collaboration between University Healthcare, The Wellness Center at Berkeley Medical Center, Main Street Martinsburg, Catholic Charities Promise House Family Resource Center, the Berkeley County Health Department, WVU Extension and community volunteers.

If you would like more information about Healthy Berkeley or are interested in getting involved, please contact Dana M. DeJarnett at 304-264-1287, ext 31814 or email ddejarnett@wvuhealthcare.com.
