HospiceCare’s Board of Directors announces the appointment of Christopher L. Rawlings to the position of CEO, effective December 9, 2019.  Rawlings succeeds HospiceCare’s former Executive Director Larry Robertson, who retired this fall after having served the agency for 20 years.

Rawlings currently serves as Associate Administrator of the Ambulatory Division of CAMC.  Prior to joining CAMC, he held positions with Arnett Carbis Toothman, SCANA Corporation, and Elliott Davis, LLC. He is a member of the board of directors of The Counseling Connection, the West Virginia Healthcare Financial Management Association and Partners in Health Network.  He is a member of the Medical Group Managers Association, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the West Virginia Association of Certified Public Accountants and the West Virginia State Medical Association.

The Charleston native is a graduate of George Washington High School and received his MBA and MS in Accounting, and BS in Finance, Economics and Accounting from the University of South Carolina. Mr. Rawlings currently lives in Charleston with his two sons, William and Thomas.

“Chris possesses clear strategic thinking, strong leadership skills and will foster communication with all constituencies.  This is an exciting time and Chris is the right leader as we begin to write the next chapter for HospiceCare”, said Sharon Rowe, Board President.

“I am honored and privileged to be leading this wonderful organization.  The staff, volunteers, and management team are all amazing individuals who positively impact patients, families and the community on a daily basis,” Rawlings said. “Additionally, the community and philanthropic support is another example of how meaningful their work is during such difficult times of grief and loss.  I am excited and humbled to serve this mission and all the HospiceCare family as we continue to strive to espouse the heart of hospice in everything we do.”

HospiceCare offers hospice, palliative care and bereavement services in 16 West Virginia counties. The in-home program and inpatient facilities in Charleston, South Charleston and Lewisburg serve more than 3,000 hospice and palliative care patients and their families annually.
