In September 2013, KCHA set a goal of becoming a lifesaving animal shelter, a major operational shift in how our shelter has been managed over the years. Since then, our euthanasia rates for both cats and dogs have significantly dropped. With this success comes additional responsibility. We have increased our staff and are continuing to increase our workforce to support all of the animals that pass through KCHA.  As we strive towards our goal, we absolutely need the support of the community, right now more than ever.

Today, KCHA is critically full and we are calling upon the community to help us. Our lifesaving goal is at risk if we cannot reduce our population by 34 dogs. This number will climb as we continue to accept stray dogs from around the county.
As of now, we have 170 dogs in-house with only 152 kennels for dog housing, We also have an additional 16 healthy dogs in isolation that need to move to our adoption floor. To help us continue our lifesaving streak, please adopt, foster, or rescue today.

To ADOPT:  Visit KCHA and bring home your new four-legged companion. The shelter is literally full of great cats and dogs! You can also call us at 304-342-1576.
