Enjoy autumn at Blennerhassett Island State Park’s Mansion by Candlelight event Oct. 14 and 15, 2016. For two nights, electricity is banished and guests are transported back to 1805 to see the Blennerhassett Mansion and grounds lit by hundreds of flickering candles.

Guests are invited to board the Island Belle sternwheeler at Civitan Park in Belpre, Ohio, ride to the island, then meet historic figures dressed in 18th century costumes and enjoy a traditional harvest dinner. It’s all in the style of the grand parties that were thrown by Harman and Margaret Blennerhassett, wealthy Irish aristocrats who settled on the wilderness island in 1798 and completed construction of their magnificent mansion in 1800.

“The island is absolutely beautiful and anyone attending Mansion by Candlelight will feel like they have stepped back 200 years in time,” said Events Coordinator Pam Sailsbury.

Reservations are required by Oct. 1 and may be purchased by calling the Blennerhassett Island Historical State Park at 304-420-4800. Ticket prices are $35 for adults and $25 for children ages 3-12. The ticket covers the round-trip sternwheeler ride, mansion visit, horse-drawn wagon ride, activities and the servants’ party. A list of the many activities and attractions is available at www.blennerhassettislandstatepark.com.
