Marshall to break ground for soccer complex Friday, Nov. 16

Marshall University officials will conduct a ceremonial groundbreaking at the site where the school’s new soccer complex will be constructed at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16.

The groundbreaking will take place at 2950 5th Ave. in Huntington, the former site of historic Veterans Memorial Field House. Work will begin the following week, with completion slated for Aug. 1, 2013.

Joining Marshall President Stephen J. Kopp, Athletic Director Mike Hamrick and others as speakers at the groundbreaking will be former Marshall and NFL quarterback Chad Pennington, co-chair of the Vision Campaign to raise $30 million to upgrade Marshall’s athletic facilities.
