Morgantown Social NetworX (MSNX) will hold its next happy hour at Mundy’s Place on Thursday, January 21, from 5:30-8 p.m.

Mundy’s Place, located in Morgantown’s First Ward at Madigan Avenue and Mississippi Street, has been a staple in the neighborhood since it first opened in 1949. Mundy’s features wine by the tap, beer and hot dogs with a slew of toppings including chili, sauerkraut, beans and pineapple. They pay homage to famous regional dog styles like the Chicago, the Sonoran and the West Virginia. It is an easy place for couples living in the neighbor to stroll to and relax.

“Neighborhood taverns like Mundy’s are a dying breed,” says Jay Redmond, owner of Mundy’s Place. “We have established a place in the neighborhood that is an anchor that caters to the needs of the “neighborhood. I want Mundy’s to be known as a tavern, not a restaurant.”

“Jay is one of those guys who opens establishments that can have a lawyer on one side, a contractor on the other and a college student sitting close by,” says Ted Kisko, owner of Portfolio LLC. “Mundy’s emulates that same feel. In his quest to listen to what neighbors want at Mundy’s, Jay has added a community acoustic jam session where locals can come together to play music and get acquainted.”

Brandhi Irvon will perform during the MSNX happy hour. Irvon is a Michigan-born artist performing new age soul, a combination of pop, folk and blues over his R&B roots.

“We are extremely excited to have the first MSNX happy hour of 2016 at Mundy’s Place,” says Mary Lynn Ulch, founder of Morgantown Social NetworX MSNX. “Mundy’s is in alignment with the basic tenants of MSNX—local people getting together in a laid back setting to relax, talk and listen to great music.”

Happy hour pricing for the MSNX group will include $5 glasses of house wine, $2 domestic beer drafts and 50 cents off hot dogs. Parking is available along the street and in the lot across from Mundy’s.
