NICU Topic of Community Seminar

University Healthcare and the WVU Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center Eastern Division will sponsor a community mini-medical school program on the new Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Berkeley Medical Center.

The seminar will be held on Tuesday, October 21 in the WVU Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center on the Berkeley Medical Center campus.  The guest speaker is Avinash Purohit, MD, a neonatologist and medical director of the NICU.  Dr. Purohit is a member of the Berkeley Medical Center medical staff and also serves as an assistant professor for the WVU School of Medicine.

Dr. Purohit will discuss what neonates need and what services the NICU at Berkeley Medical Center will provide.  Tours of the unit will be offered following the presentation, along with light refreshments.

Registration for the mini-medical school program begins at 6:30 pm with the program to follow from 7 – 8 pm.  This community mini-medical school program is being offered free to the public as a community service of University Healthcare and the WVU Health Sciences Center Eastern Division.
