The Appalachian Children’s Chorus (ACC) is inviting children’s choirs from around the country to participate in the Appalachian Festival of Young Voices scheduled for June 26 – 29, 2020. The festival is a musically and culturally enriching experience for all participants according to Dr. Rollo Dilworth, who is an internationally renowned conductor, educator, and clinician and was recently appointed Senior Vice Dean at Temple University. He has conducted the combined festival choirs since 2007 and will continue to do so in 2020.

This amazing opportunity includes a festival choir performance at Charleston’s Civic Center Little Theater, four nights at the Embassy Suites hotel, a performance with a world class traditional string band and orchestra, time with Dr. Dilworth and singer/songwriting Ron Sowell, square dancing with live music, Appalachian storytelling, and an post-concert celebration on the River Queen riverboat.

“We are thrilled to host our festival in Charleston once again not only so that we can showcase our city and rich culture but also so that we can support our local economy,” said Selina Midkiff, Founding and Artistic Director of the Appalachian Children’s Chorus. “We are anxious to share this amazing musical opportunity and immerse young artists from around the country in our Appalachian culture.”

As part of ACC’s mission to provide artistic excellence, a quality music education, and extraordinary opportunities while creating a positive effect on the lives of West Virginia’s youth, the Appalachian Festival of Young Voices covers all aspects of who we are as an organization.
