The Appalachian Children’s Chorus (ACC) will perform Sweet Melodies in Spring, Saturday, May 4th, at 6:30 pm at the Bible Center Church at 100 Bible Center Drive in Charleston. The concert is presented by Huntington Bank. All military patrons will again be granted free admission.

A portion of the concert will feature selections from part of the Appalachian Suite (Songs from the Hills) composed by Gary Fry.  It was first performed as the world premiere in a concert on March 23, 2019, with the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra (WVSO). This work, which was commissioned by Maestro Lawrence Loh and the WVSO for ACC, was a momentous honor and affirmation of our choir’s reputation for excellence and hard work.

“In this season of the year, we are thrilled to celebrate our 28th spring concert and all that it symbolizes,” said Selina Midkiff, Founding and Artistic Director of the Appalachian Children’s Chorus, “and we are also anxious to share with our ACC patrons selections from the piece that our choirs performed as a world premiere as the honor they received is highly notable. We are extremely proud of the choirs for their dedication to excellence!”

Tickets are $10 if purchased before May 4th or $12 after. A special invitation is extended to anyone with a military ID for free admission to the concert.  This also applies to spouses or partners and children 18 and under.

All proceeds from the concert will support ACC in its mission to provide artistic excellence, a quality music education, and extraordinary opportunities while creating a positive effect on the lives of West Virginia’s youth.

Tickets can be purchased online at www.wvacc.org or by phone at 304.343.1111. Those with a military ID can call Audrey Pitonak-Goff at 304.343.1111 or email her at audrey@wvacc.org.
