OnSite Digital Radiology Services, LLC, a provider of mobile digital radiography (DR) services, will begin operations in December 2012. OnSite will provide its services to nursing homes, assisted living facilities, hospice and home care facilities and correctional facilities.

With a 3,500 percent increase in image quality over conventional film technology and a 400 percent increase in image quality over digital computed radiography (CR) technology, DR technology allows the x-ray technician to review the quality of the images at bedside and send via Wi-Fi to a radiologist for interpretation, whereas CR technology requires the technologist to go out to a vehicle to scan, review the quality and send the image. Film technology requires the technologist to go back to a processing site to process, review and send the image.

OnSite will be the first provider of mobile DR technology in the State of West Virginia, and the state will become the second in the country to have this service on a statewide basis. Operations will begin in the Huntington and Charleston area and spread throughout the state within the year. All imaging studies will be read by board-certified Radiology, Inc., based in Huntington.

Richard Pulcrano, the president and CEO of OnSite, was the pioneer who started mobile imaging services in the State of West Virginia under the company name Tri-State Mobile Medical Services, which was founded in 1986. A past West Virginia Young Entrepreneur of the Year, Pulcrano is a graduate of St. Mary’s School of Radiologic Technology in Huntington and George Washington University in Washington, DC.
