WVU Parkersburg is proud to announce that the Association of Community College Trustees has honored Patsy Bee with the 2013 Southern Region ACCT Professional Board Staff award. Bee will compete for national-level recognition next month at the 44th Annual ACCT Leadership Congress. WVU Parkersburg Board Chairman Gerard El Chaar nominated Bee for the award in July.

Bee recently retired from her position as WVU Parkersburg’s executive assistant to the president. Her 33 years of service spanned four administrations and multiple changes in college identity. During her tenure, the college transitioned from Parkersburg Community College to a regional campus of West Virginia University and then to a stand-alone college in the state’s new community and technical college system. Through all of this, she served as the right-hand person for the Board and ensured that new members learned the institution and had what was needed to perform their duties.

“We are extremely proud of Patsy and her accomplishments,” said WVU Parkersburg President Dr. Marie Foster Gnage. “Faculty, staff and students have always known they can depend on her. She anticipates the needs of the college, the Board and the community and addresses those needs with a smile. She is most deserving of this honor.”

“ACCT’s Regional Awards recognize the tremendous contributions made by trustees, equity programs, chief executive officers, faculty members, and professional board staff of the nation’s community colleges,” said ACCT President and CEO J. Noah Brown. “ACCT’s member colleges and the individuals who serve them work tirelessly, often with little recognition. We are glad to be able to shine a spotlight on those who go above and beyond the call of duty.”

Awardees from each of the five regions will contend for national-level recognition, with one winner in each category to be announced on Friday, Oct. 4 during the Annual ACCT Awards Gala in Seattle.
