Dr. Charles Pickering and Pickering Associates were awarded the West Virginia Green Works 2013 Placemaker Award of Excellence for the states only Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Platinum certified residence.
Dr. Charles Pickering and Pickering Associates developed 12 Faith Meadows to show the community an example of new and innovative processes in sustainability. Among the home’s many impressive technologies is the Photovoltaic Power system, which supplies all of the energy to the home. The residence also features locally manufactured ceramic tile flooring, sustainably harvested wood products, low VOC finishes, vegetated and recycled roofing materials and site-controlled water runoff containment.
The award was announced in February at the Building Conference Expo in Morgantown, WV. The conference brings together industry experts, vendors, community builders, building owners, students, researchers, municipal leaders, lawmakers, and advocates putting the big picture of sustainability and green energy in focus.
