For the 8th year, the Princeton-Mercer County Chamber of Commerce will continue the fall tradition of its Princeton AutumnFest, a one-day celebration of local music, food, culture and heritage. This year’s AutumnFest is set for Saturday, Sept. 28, along Mercer Street, in the heart of Princeton’s downtown. The festival incorporates a five block stretch of Mercer Street in downtown Princeton.

The fun and festivities will begin just prior to 10 a.m., with the appearance of the award winning Princeton Senior High School Marching Band and the arrival of the runners in the AutumnFest 5K Run. The day will include the Princeton AutumnFest Classic Car Show, the Veterinary Associates Fun Dog Show, apple butter-making, the Great Pumpkin Cook-off, food and craft vendors and much more. There will be live music all day including the locally famous East River Ruritan Hee Haw show and Texaco Showdown winner Chad Belcher. Children’s activities include face-painting, a pumpkin pie-eating contest, pumpkin-decorating contest, bounce houses and more.

The newly crowned Miss Princeton AutumnFest and her court (who will be crowned in the Miss AutumnFest Pageant on September 21 at the Chuck Mathena Center) will also be in attendance, meeting and greeting and helping out with some of the festivities.

The 5th annual Scarecrow Contest will also make a return this year, beginning with local businesses displaying their scarecrows beginning September 3 and raising penny votes for charity. The scarecrow that raises the most money gets to choose which charity will receive all the money raised by all scarecrows entered in the contest.

Vendors who wish to set up at the Princeton-Mercer County Chamber of Commerce 8th annual Princeton AutumnFest should submit their registration forms as soon as possible. Registration forms are available at the Chamber office and on the web.
