Ride the Halloween Train at Cass Scenic Railroad State Park Oct. 25

Tickets are still available for the annual Halloween Train at Cass Scenic Railroad State Park Oct. 25. The ride leaves the depot at 6 p.m. and travels to Whittaker Station for a rare night journey. Reservations are required to assure a seat for this popular excursion. Riders are encouraged to wear costumes for this family friendly experience.

In addition to the Halloween Train, activities at the Town of Cass Oct. 25 include a costume contest at 3 p.m. and craft making from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Community Center.

New this year is a “Trunk and Treat” in the Cass parking lot by the playground from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Prizes will be awarded for the best decorated car.

“Trunk and Treat is where people bring Halloween to one area, in this case the parking lot at Cass, and children go from car to car for candy treats,” said Cass Scenic Railroad State Park Superintendent Scott Fortney. Anyone who wants to participate in Trunk and Treat by decorating a car and bringing treats may call the park at 304-456-4300 for details.

The Green Bank Brownies Troop #34278 will be doing a Community Service activity of a canned food drive for the Green Bank Meals on Wheels program. People bringing canned food items will get a free removable tattoo from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the parking lot by the playground.

The town activities are free and open to the public. The Halloween Train is fee based and requires reservations. Halloween Train rates: adult, $37; child, 5-12, $27; child, under 5, $17  The ride is open to individuals, families and larger groups.
