Riverbend, the Center Supporting Higher Education, is conducting an auction/sale of the Vining Library items. Riverbend is the new 118-acre college community campus, located in Montgomery, West Virginia. It was the former home of the West Virginia University Institute of Technology (WVU Tech). Through a 25-year lease purchase agreement, KVC-WV (KVC then renamed the center) took possession of the furnished facility in July 2017 and immediately began repurposing the campus into a fully-capable educational environment with subtle wraparound supports to create a safe, nurturing environment for young adults transitioning from the foster care system.

The auction/sale is scheduled for Saturday, June 9, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. within the 4-story Vining Library located at 405 Fayette Pike Montgomery, WV 25136.

Most items will be auctioned off or sold to the highest bidders. Items include: books, bookcases, tables, chairs, card catalogs, cubicles, periodicals, and more.

Proceeds will go to KVC-WV, which operates Riverbend. Monies raised will support necessary elements for the students attending the center in the fall.

“This is another progressive step in the transformation of this campus,” stated Tommy Bailey, Executive VP for Strategic Initiatives, KVC. “We are hoping for a good turnout, which also allows community members to learn about our plans.”

Former WV Agriculture Commissioner, Walt Helmick, will serve as the auctioneer.
