SBA Celebrates Global Entrepreneurship Week

The U.S. Small Business Administration’s West Virginia District Office kicks off Global Entrepreneurship Week, Monday November 16, 2015 at the Entrepreneurship Expo and Lunch & Learn Session. Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) is the world’s largest celebration of innovators and job creators, who launch startups to bring ideas to life, drive economic growth and expand human welfare. GEW launched in 2008 with 77 countries participating and has almost doubled to 140 countries.

Entrepreneurship Expo – 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

The celebration kicks off from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with Resource partners’ exhibiting programs available to help small businesses start, grow, and succeed. Resources attending include: West Virginia High Tech Consortium, I-79 Development Council, National Contract Management Association, WV Small Business Development Center, SCORE, and the Regional Contracting Assistance Center.

Lunch & Learn: AECOM – 12:00 to 3:30 p.m.

Following the Entrepreneurship Expo, AECOM’s Group President of Management Services, Randy Wotring, delivers information to small businesses on how they can market their capabilities to become an AECOM supplier. AECOM is a $19-billion, fully integrated infrastructure and support services firm, with the ability to design, build, finance and operate infrastructures globally. The company currently serves clients in over 150 countries around the world. Following Wotring’s presentation there is a Q&A and networking session.

“The SBA’s West Virginia District Office is excited to celebrate Global Entrepreneurship Week with this great event,” states SBA’s West Virginia District Director, Karen Friel. “We hope small businesses who are interested in the supply chain initiative join us to learn more about becoming a subcontractor with AECOM.”

The event is hosted by the WVHTC Affiliate Service Group, I-79 Development Council, National Contract Management Association, with participation from the U.S. Small Business Administration and is at the Robert H. Mollohan Research Center, located at 1000 Galliher Drive in Fairmont. There is a lunch fee to attend the event and registration is required.
