The U.S. Small Business Administration is pleased to announce the appointment of two new team members to the West Virginia District Office. Larry Batten and Nikki Bowmar recently accepted positions as Economic Development Specialists and will focus on enhancing the awareness of SBA programs and services in West Virginia. Bowmar will also serve as Public Information Officer and will be responsible for handling all media inquiries.

Batten, a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, comes to the SBA with over 12 years of experience in site management. A native of Lewis County, Batten earned a bachelor’s degree in Business and Business Analysis from Bellevue University and is actively involved in his community. As a business owner himself, Batten understands the challenges small businesses face and is excited to have the opportunity to help others.

Bowmar comes to SBA with years of experience in marketing and public relations. In her most recent role, she functioned as a Brand Manager for MedExpress Urgent Care. Bowmar earned a bachelor’s of science degree in Journalism from West Virginia University. A native of West Virginia who has always had a passion for her home state, she is excited to have the opportunity to educate businesses on SBA’s programs.

The West Virginia District Office welcomed the new additions to the team, including Judy McCauley, SBA’s West Virginia district director. “We are very pleased to have Larry and Nikki aboard. Their experience will give our office depth and allow for further education of SBA programs,” McCauley said.
