SHRM Essentials of Human Resource Management Training

Kanawha Valley Community and Technical College in partnership with SHRM, the Society for Human Resource Management, will offer the Essentials of Human Resource Management certificate program on March 24 and 25, 3014.  The training program will be held from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm at Kanawha Valley Community and Technical College in South Charleston.

This workshop provides an overview of the human resource function and today’s most vital and timely topics, including employment law, selecting qualified employees, compensation, the employee performance process, and much more!  This program is designed for new human resource professionals and covers real-life Human Resource issues.  Anyone involved with hiring or managing employees will benefit from this course as well. 

If you are new to human resources or simply want to strengthen your employee management skills, this course is for you.  Knowledge of the essentials can make you a better manager, protect your company from needless litigation, and helps advance your career.  You will benefit from the shared experiences of your instructor and peers as you learn techniques for handling HR challenges.  The program includes application exercises that develop specific human resource competencies and decision-making skills. 

The curriculum has been designed by subject matter experts from SHRM and covers the six knowledge base areas of human resources.  It will be taught by Betty McHale, local instructor committed to the Human Resource field with experience in construction, government, transportation, healthcare, engineering, banking, and manufacturing.  In addition to holding the SPHR certification, she has a MS in Strategic Leadership and a BS in Industrial Relations/Human Resource Management.

All materials needed are provided the day of the workshop.  Participants will receive a certificate of completion and individuals with PHR or SPHR certification can earn 15 SHRM recertification hours.  The fee for this workshop is $545.

Kanawha Valley Community and Technical College offers more than 20 associate degree programs, 15 certificate programs and a variety of skill sets.
