Spilman Thomas & Battle, PLLC (Spilman) announced that five new team members have joined the law firm, adding depth to its litigation, corporate, and labor and employment law services.

Lara R. Brandfass joins the firm’s Charleston office. Her primary area of practice is general defense litigation. She earned her undergraduate degree, magna cum laude, from the College of Charleston and her law degree from the Charleston School of Law, summa cum laude.

Michelle L. Varga Esposito joins Spilman’s Morgantown office. Her primary area of practice is general corporate and business law. Her prior professional experience helps her assist clients in diverse sectors, including technology and government contracts. She earned her undergraduate degree from Smith College and her law degree from West Virginia University College of Law.

Joseph A. “Jay” Ford joins the firm’s Charleston office. His primary area of practice is general defense litigation. He earned both his undergraduate degree, summa cum laude, and his law degree from West Virginia University.

Sarah E. Kowalkowsi also joins Spilman’s Charleston office. Her primary area of practice is labor and employment law. She earned her undergraduate degree, magna cum laude, from Elon University and her law degree from William & Mary Law School.

Zachary R. McCoy joins the firm’s Charleston office. His primary area of practice is corporate law with an emphasis on tax matters. He earned his undergraduate degree, magna cum laude, master’s degree and law degree from West Virginia University.
