“Tea on Tuesday” is a special new experience planned on Blennerhassett Island this summer. Teas are scheduled for July 15 and August 12 at the historic Putnam-Houser house.

“We are sure that the Putnam family hosted many social gatherings in this home which was built in 1802, and we want to re-create that atmosphere,” says Events Coordinator Pam Salisbury.

The Putnam-Houser House is also known as Maple Shade. The boat will depart at 11:00 a.m. from Point Park for the island. Upon arrival, guests will be escorted to horse-drawn wagons, which will take them to and from Maple Shade for the tea.   There will be special music by Scott Cain and a short program about the Putnam family following the tea.   Attendees are welcome to spend the rest of the day exploring the island. The cost for attending this special morning tea is $22 per person.  Advance reservations are required by calling (304) 420-4800.
