The West Virginia Breast Health Initiative, Inc. (“WVBHI”) Announces the 2nd Annual Race for the Ribbon to end Breast Cancer Saturday, May 4, 2019 at the West Virginia State Capitol Complex

WVBHI, is celebrating its Annual “Race for the Ribbon” event this coming Saturday, May 4, 2019. Opening Ceremony starts at 8am and 5k Walk/Run starts precisely at 9am. People can register or make a donation by visiting our website at www.wvbhi.org Online registration closes on Thursday, May 2, 2019 at midnight, however you can still register at the WVBHI office or the morning of the Race.

Last year, the Race for the Ribbon hosted registrants from 7 states and over 200 WV communities to support fundraising efforts for the following services in West Virginia

  • Provide support for early detection breast cancer screening tests
  • Provide financial based needs assistance to those suffering from breast cancer
  • Provide community outreach education programs to local area schools to educate youth on breast cancer detection and breast health
  • Provide immediate phone support and education to those diagnosed with breast cancer on topics such as insurance coverage
  • Provide grants for rural community health clinics and hospitals to assist in areas such as early detection breast cancer screening tests

Festivities will begin with the Opening Ceremony which kicks off at 8:00 a.m. on the steps of the West Virginia State Capitol Complex facing the Kanawha Boulevard. The official 5k Walk/Run will begin promptly at 9:00 a.m.

There will be a Packet Pick Up Party on Friday, May 3, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Bream Presbyterian Church activities building located at 317 W. Washington Street, Charleston, West Virginia 25302. Timed Runners can pick up their chip and bib at Friday’s Packet Pick up Party. Participants and timed runners can also pick up their packets, chip and bibs the morning of the Race starting at 7:00 a.m.
