The Tom Dunn Energy Leadership Academy has extended the application deadline for its 2016 class. Applications now will be accepted through June 3. High school students interested in learning more about natural gas, regional career opportunities and leadership skills are encouraged to apply today.

“We want to ensure everyone who is interested has ample time to apply for this year’s class,” said Dennis Xander, the Academy’s chairman. “We know how busy both students and faculty can get this time of year, and we want every student to have the chance to attend this wonderful learning experience.”

The Academy will be held July 12-14, 2016, at West Virginia Wesleyan College in Buckhannon, W.Va. There is no cost to participate, and students will receive certificates of completion for their efforts.

The Independent Oil and Gas Association of West Virginia founded the Academy in 2012 to honor the memory of one of its pioneer members and industry leaders, Tom Dunn. Dunn served as President of the Independent Oil & Gas Association of West Virginia (IOGAWV) in 1974.

“We are really looking forward to this year’s Academy,” said Xander. “It’s such a great way for students to gain a wealth of knowledge about oil and natural gas and help them decide how to pursue a career in the industry.”

All applications must be submitted by Friday June 3, 2016. To learn more about the Tom Dunn Energy Leadership Academy and to download the application, visit tomdunnacademy.org. Be sure to “Like” the Tom Dunn Energy Leadership Academy on Facebook and follow @DunnAcademy on Twitter.
