Skin cancer is the most common cancer, accounting for nearly half of all cancers in the United States.
According to the American Cancer Society, more than 1 million cases of skin cancers are diagnosed each year. With summer just around the corner, the best way to lower the risk of skin cancer is to practice good sun safety and have your skin examined on a regular basis.
University Healthcare and local dermatologist Erik Hurst, MD, will be offering free skin cancer screenings on Friday, May 2 from 9 am until 12 noon in the Dorothy McCormack Center on the Berkeley Medical Center campus.

This free skin cancer screening service is being offered as a community service of the University Healthcare Regional Cancer Program, which is fully accredited by the American College of Surgeons.
