West Virginia Businesses Exhibiting at Mining Expo in Canada

The West Virginia Development Office and eight West Virginia businesses are jointly exhibiting at the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM) Expo, Canada’s premier mining show. The expo runs May 10-13 in Montréal, Quebec.

The display booth is sponsored by Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC), a regional economic development agency that encompasses 13 Appalachian states. The CIM Expo is part of ARC’s Mining Equipment Technology and Services initiative to support the mining sector throughout Appalachia. In addition to the West Virginia participants, the exhibit team includes two other companies from ARC states.

The participating businesses with operations in West Virginia are:

  • American Mine Research (headquartered in Virginia with a manufacturing arm in in Princeton, Mercer County, West Virginia)
  • Boone Supply Company, Sylvester, Boone County
  • ChemBio Shelter (headquartered in Allentown, Pennsylvania, with manufacturing in Sophia, Raleigh County, West Virginia
  • The Daniels Company, Bluefield, Mercer County
  • Kanawha Scales & Systems, Poca, Kanawha County
  • Standard Laboratories, South Charleston, Kanawha County
  • Thermo-Tech, Davis, Tucker County
  • Vossloh North America, Mining Division, St. Albans, Kanawha County

“The Development Office recruits West Virginia companies to get involved in trade events such as CIM Expo and assists them with exhibiting.” said Keith Burdette, West Virginia Secretary of Commerce.  “Being active in trade events helps companies develop new export market opportunities.”

Export promotion is one of the services the Development Office provides to help West Virginia’s industries retain existing jobs and create new ones by expanding their customer base.
