samWest Virginia Executive (WVE) magazine, the Mountain State’s premier statewide business publication, is proud to welcome Samantha Cart as its new production manager.

A native of Buffalo, WV, Cart got her first taste of magazine production as an intern for WVE in 2011 while attending West Virginia University (WVU). She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in journalism from WVU before moving to Birmingham, AL, with her husband, Caleb, who is studying optometry at the University of Alabama Birmingham. Cart continued to work as a freelance writer and editor for WVE in 2014-2015, and she joined the staff full-time on March 1.

“I am so fortunate to have this opportunity,” Cart says. “Working on each issue of West Virginia Executive makes me feel more connected to home—especially on those days that I am particularly homesick.”

A West Virginia transplant, Cart displays her Mountaineer Pride in Rolling Tide country. She is a hard-core advocate for all things West Virginia and looks forward to the future and possible opportunities to return home to the Mountain State.

In her spare time, Cart volunteers with the Jefferson County Alabama 4-H Youth Advisory Council, and she is a member off the young adult Ministry Action Team at First Church of the Nazarene in Birmingham.

Cart may be reached sdc@wvexecutive.com.
