On Wednesday, May 27, 2015, at approximately 11:55 pm, Troopers assigned to the Richwood Detachment along with members of the Central West Virginia Regional Drug Task Force served a search warrant at the residence of Floyd A. Graham (64 years of age, 1197 Scenic Highway, Muddlety, West Virginia).

The search warrant was related to an on-going drug investigation. After the officers announced their presence and entered the residence, they encountered Graham with a gun in his hand. Graham refused to drop the weapon after being given several commands to do so and then he took aim at one of the Troopers. The Trooper fired his department issued weapon once, resulting in Graham being wounded in the chest. Graham then fired his weapon multiple times at the officers before being taken into custody.

Graham was transported by helicopter to Charleston Area Medical Center where he remains in stable condition. Upon his release from the hospital, he will be charged in Nicholas County Magistrate Court with attempted murder of a police officer, multiple counts of delivery of a controlled substance, and possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.
