Wild, Wonderful West Virginia, in collaboration with local partners, will host a series of events showcasing the many wild, wonderful activities in West Virginia to celebrate the U.S. Travel Association’s National Travel and Tourism Week, May 1-7, 2016.

“We are very excited to celebrate National Travel and Tourism Week. Our team has worked collaboratively with industry partners to line up a diverse series of events which showcase some of the many things to see and do in the Mountain State and also highlights an experience each member of the team is passionate about,” Commissioner of Tourism Amy Shuler Goodwin said. “Whether you’re an adrenaline-junkie, a music aficionado, or a foodie, we invite you to join us for this weeklong celebration of travel and tourism in Wild, Wonderful West Virginia. Don’t forget to share your story with #GoToWV.”

National Travel and Tourism Week was established by a congressional resolution in 1983 and hailed as “America’s annual salute to travel and tourism”. The week of events serves to champion the power of the tourism industry. In West Virginia alone, tourism accounts for more than 4.5 billion dollars in revenue annually (Dean Runyon), with a return on investment (R.O.I) of 7 dollars to every dollar spent advertising (Longwoods).

In addition to the events, Wild, Wonderful West Virginia will launch its Snapchat account.  All events are open to the public.  See schedule of events for more detailed information or contact the event lead (noted below).
