West Liberty University welcomes students back to campus on the weekend of Aug. 24-26. First year students move in on Friday, Aug. 24 and returning students rejoin the Hilltopper Campus on Sunday, Aug. 26.

Classes begin Monday, Aug. 27 and the last day to enroll or add a class is Sept. 5.

Topperfest is a special program of welcome to new students and begins with a 4 p.m., Friday, Aug. 24, investiture ceremony that includes a new student convocation, and formal welcome to the class of 2016. It is held in Kelly Theater, located in the Fine Arts building.

As part of Topperfest, WLU presents first time freshmen with their own personal laptop computer. The computers are distributed from 1 – 3 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 26 in the Elbin Library.

The West Liberty University student laptop program is now in its fifth year and is coordinated by Brian Elo, the student laptop program coordinator. The popular program offers laptops to every incoming freshman, assuring equal access to technology for all students.

Topperfest also includes a Mardi Gras-themed two-week schedule of events designed to welcome students to West Liberty University and get them acclimated to campus through both informative and entertaining events. These events give new students the chance to interact with each other and jump-start the friendships that will last a lifetime.

With the start of the new school year, West Liberty University will see an enrollment increase for eight consecutive years. The 263-acre campus is expanding in other ways also, with the construction of the Campbell Hall of Health Sciences and the recent addition of a soccer field.

WLU also added a new graduate degree program this past July, the Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies, ranked as the number one degree for jobs, by Forbes Magazine in 2012.

Led by President Robin C. Capehart, WLU is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. For more information, please visit www.westliberty.edu or call 1.866.WESTLIB.
