- The upcoming competition is for residents of Fayette County.

- Applications will be evaluated by a team of reviewers.
- Top applicants will be chosen to pitch their idea or product in-person at the J.W. & Hazel Ruby – Boy Scouts Welcome Center in Mt. Hope on February 12, 2019.
The WV Hive Network, in partnership with TechConnect WV and the Beckley LaunchLab, has scheduled the third of five business idea competitions encompassing twelve counties in southern West Virginia. The upcoming competition, to be held in Mt. Hope, WV, is for entrepreneurs and small businesses of Fayette County.
New business ideas or small businesses that have been in operation for less than 3 years are eligible to compete. Both for-profit and nonprofit entities may apply. To be considered, an application must be completed online at www.wvhive.com/pitch/ no later than midnight January 15, 2019.
Applications will be evaluated by a team of reviewers, with top applicants chosen to pitch their unique idea or product in-person at the J.W. and Hazel Ruby – Boy Scouts Welcome Center in Mt. Hope on February 12, 2019 at 5:30pm.
The successful applicants whose idea or product is chosen will have two weeks to create a pitch for their idea or product with the aid of the WV Hive Network.
During the competition, each applicant will have five minutes to present their idea or product to a panel of judges and explain what is innovative about their idea and how it will make a difference to residents of southern WV.
A grand prize winner will be awarded $1,000 to use towards growing their idea or product into a business. Other prizes will be provided by the community. 2nd and 3rd place winners will receive smaller awards.
Fayette County’s Pitch Southern WV Competition is supported by the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce and Mister Bee Potato Chips.
The West Virginia Hive Network is an initiative of the New River Gorge Regional Development Authority, working to help entrepreneurs and small businesses network and thrive in southern West Virginia. Based on the WVU Tech campus in Beckley with four satellite offices throughout the area, the WV Hive provides services to grow new and existing businesses in a 12-county region of West Virginia.
