WVSBDC Joins Celebration of America’s SBDC 35th Anniversary

This year marks the 35th anniversary of America’s Small Business Development Centers (SBDC), which represents the nationwide network of Small Business Development Centers. America’s SBDC is the largest technical assistance program for small businesses in the country.

The West Virginia SBDC is an Accredited Member of America’s SBDC network.

In recognition of the anniversary as well as National Small Business Week, the WVSBDC will offer no-cost training workshops on business fundamentals May 4 – 8.

America’s SBDC members such as WVSBDC provide low-cost training and no-cost business coaching. The national network provides information, advice and resources to help prospective entrepreneurs start their own small businesses and established companies to grow.

The SBDC program was created to stimulate economic growth. According to SBA data, every federal dollar spent on the SBDC network helped small businesses access $46.25 in new capital. The national average job growth for small businesses is estimated as being 1.6 percent, annually. With expert assistance from America’s Small Business Development Centers, clients of the program typically experience 14 percent job growth.

America’s SBDC service centers are funded in part by the United States Congress through a partnership with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).

The WVSBDC is part of the West Virginia Development Office and creates economic impact through offering entrepreneurs and small businesses cost-effective business coaching and technical assistance. The West Virginia SBDC is funded in part through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration.
