Lisha Conny has joined the West Virginia Small Business Development Center (WVSBDC) as a business coach. The new business coaching position is hosted by the City of Parkersburg through a partnership agreement with the WVSBDC.

Her office in the City of Parkersburg administrative building serves small businesses in Calhoun, Jackson, Pleasants, Ritchie, Wirt and Wood counties.

“We are excited to have Lisha join the SBDC network. She will work with existing and growing businesses in the Parkersburg region and brings great experience to the position,” says Kristina Oliver, state director of the WVSBDC.

Conny graduated from the University of South Carolina with a bachelor’s degree with a double major in business management and in marketing. She entered business and held product management and marketing roles with companies in fields such as thermoplastics, energy and computer hardware and software.

Currently Conny is co-owner of several entrepreneurial companies in sectors that range from cellular and fiber optics, agriculture, real estate and apparel.

She is scheduled to receive her master’s degree in strategic leadership from the University of Charleston in December 2014.

Business coaches operate from WVSBDC centers distributed across West Virginia. They collaborate with other coaches in the statewide network to help entrepreneurs sustain and expand their businesses. The network makes it possible for small business owners anywhere in the state to call on WVSBDC specialists certified in areas such as capital access, innovation/technology, exporting and federal contracts.

The WVSBDC is part of the West Virginia Development Office and creates economic impact through offering entrepreneurs and small businesses cost-effective business coaching and technical assistance. The West Virginia SBDC is funded in part through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration. The WVSBDC is an Accredited Member of America’s SBDC network.
