West Virginia State University (WVSU) Extension Service will present a workshop to help landowners properly maintain fruit trees Monday, March 30, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the WVSU campus orchard.  Pre-registration is required, along with a $5 registration fee.

“This workshop will focus on the pruning of fruit trees and the traditional methods of how to properly care for and maintain them,” said WVSU Extension Agent Brad Cochran. “Many people have either planted fruit trees or inherited them, and this workshop will be a great way to learn how to better manage the ones on your property.”

Designed for all experience levels, the workshop will focus on all aspects of fruit tree care and upkeep. Instruction will be followed by a hands-on demonstration of proper pruning. West Virginia University Extension Service Consumer Horticulture Specialist Mira Danilovich will co-present with Cochran.

To register, contact Cochran at (304) 541-3301 or bcochran2@wvstateu.edu.

The campus orchard is located adjacent to Route 25, near the entrance to campus. Attendees should enter campus at the main entrance and turn directly into Parking Lot C. The orchard is located at the far end of the lot.
