WVSU’s Creators Program to Host Movie Music Workshop with Chuck Biel

West Virginia State University’s (WVSU) Creators Program workshop series continues with “Making Movie Music,” a lecture at the WVSU Economic Development Center (EDC) Wednesday, Oct. 12, at 7 p.m. Noted musician Chuck Biel will speak as part of the program’s Creators Talk lecture series.

Biel will demonstrate compositional techniques for film and other media available to both beginners and seasoned music creators. He will also discuss how individuals can make their own music for media.

The presentation features a full band performance of various types of music.

With a career than spans more than 40 years, Biel has performed with such artists as Rita Moreno, Marvin Hamlisch, Shirley Jones, and Martha and the Vandellas. He has trained musicians who have gone on to work with Ray Charles, David Bowie, Keith Urban, Meat Loaf and others.

Biel’s Creators Talk is free and open to the public.

The Creators Program is a series of community workshops focusing on skills and knowledge essential to creating for mass media and art. WVSU’s Cultural Activities office partners with the Arts Council of Kanawha Valley and the West Virginia Film Office on the series.
