The West Virginia University College of Creative Arts is currently accepting nominations for two awards it recently created to honor distinguished alumni and friends of the College.

The “College of Creative Arts Outstanding Alumni Award” is a special recognition given to an individual who is an alumnus of the College and who has demonstrated outstanding and uncommon achievement in his or her profession and/or service to the arts.

The recipient of this award is chosen by the College of Creative Arts Executive Planning Council. Last year’s recipient was School of Music alumnus and Emmy Award-winning composer Jay Chattaway.

The “Distinguished Friend of the College of Creative Arts Award” is a special recognition given to an individual who is not an alumnus of the College, but who has demonstrated extraordinary commitment and contributions to both the College and to WVU.

The recipient of the award is selected by the College of Creative Arts Visiting Committee. Last year’s recipients of this award were William and Loulie Canady, who are long-time supporters of the College of Creative Arts and sponsors of the Pittsburgh Symphony Series at the Creative Arts Center, as well as the Canady Scholarships.

The deadline for nominations is Feb. 1. Award nomination forms can be found on the College of Creative Arts website at: http://www.ccarts.wvu.edu/alumni/alumnianddistinguishedfriendawards.
