West Virginia University is traveling to all parts of the state this fall as part of its “Face to Face with WVU” events.

These “Face to Face with WVU” events are part of the Office of Admissions’ effort to connect with prospective in-state junior and senior high school students and their families.

“This is a great opportunity to get back into the communities and areas of our state as a University,” said Ryan Boyd, coordinator of West Virginia recruitment at WVU. “We hope that this will help us better connect with our entire state. As a land-grant institution, that’s key.”

Students and parents will have the opportunity to meet with WVU’s colleges as well as the offices of Admissions, Adventure WV, Financial Aid, Honors College, Housing, Mountaineer Parents Club, Scholarships and Study Abroad. To register to attend, visit http://admissions.wvu.edu/facetoface.

“Face to Face with WVU” events will take place in the following areas in West Virginia:

  • Kanawha Valley; Wednesday, Sept. 25 at 6:30 p.m.; Cultural Center – State Capitol Grounds, Charleston
  • Ohio Valley; Thursday, Sept. 26 at 6:30 p.m.; Parkersburg Art Center, Parkersburg
  • Southern West Virginia; Tuesday, Oct. 22 at 6:30 p.m.; Tamarack Conference Center, Beckley
  • Eastern Panhandle; Tuesday, Oct. 29 at 6:30 p.m.; Clarion Hotel and Conference Center, Shepherdstown
  • Northern Panhandle; Tuesday, Nov. 5 at 6:30 p.m.; Pine Room – Oglebay Resort, Wheeling

Each event will include a short video and a welcome from one of WVU’s administrators as well as a speech from a current WVU student from the area. Students will have the opportunity to apply to the University and receive an on-spot decision. Because the University is dedicated to helping West Virginians succeed, the academic deposit for students who attend these “Face to Face with WVU” events will be waived. Students will receive a fast-track pass to enrollment, allowing them to proceed directly to the housing application.

Students from North-Central West Virginia will have the opportunity to attend a special North-Central West Virginia Senior Fall Preview day on Monday, Oct. 14. To register to attend, visit http://admissions.wvu.edu/ncwvpreview.
