Mountaineer Montessori School, 308 20th Street, is pleased to announce the addition of four educators to its faculty.
Tara Fought has been named a lower elementary lead guide. Fought, a graduate of Florida International University in Miami, was previously lead lower elementary teacher at the Montessori School of North Miami in Florida for 15 years.
Bridgett Steveson has been appointed lead guide for the middle school program. A graduate of Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington, Steveson joins MMS after leading environmental education programs at the Agulhas National Park in South Africa and at Nature’s Classroom Institute and Montessori School campuses in Texas and Wisconsin. She completed the AMI Montessori Introduction to Adolescent Studies program.
Julianna Phillips has been promoted to upper elementary co-teacher. She is certified through the AMS Greater Cincinnati Center for Montessori education, holds bachelor’s degrees from Concord University and WVSU, and is pursuing her master’s degree at Marshall University.
Rachel Scarpelli has been appointed a primary lead guide. A graduate of Middle Tennessee State University, Scarpelli’s training is with the AMS Greater Cincinnati Center for Montessori Studies.
Dina Hornbaker is the new middle school assistant. A graduate of WVU, she is certified in permaculture, and trained with the AMS Virginia Center for Montessori Studies.
Kristie Simmons is a new assistant in the primary program. She studied at WVU Institute of Technology and WVU-Parkersburg and trained with the AMS Virginia Center for Montessori Studies.
Founded in 1976, MMS is the largest, oldest and most established Montessori school in West Virginia, serving 125 students ages 3-14 at campuses in Kanawha City (308 20th Street) and South Hills (804 Myrtle Road) in Charleston.
