The Charleston Area Alliance would like to officially welcome JPN Precision to the West Virginia business community. Company officials announced this week they selected West Virginia for its first North American operation. JPN Precision is the US operation of its parent company, TEKNIA, located in Nagoya, Japan.
Company officials first connected with West Virginia more than 10 years ago. Most recently, the Charleston Area Alliance joined with the Governor’s Office and the West Virginia Development Office to meet with TEKNIA officials at an industry trade show in May 2015. TEKNIA executives were hosted in Charleston in Fall 2015.
“We enjoyed a robust partnership on this project with the WV Development Office, its International Division, its Nagoya office and the Governor’s Office. As with all economic development projects, this was a team effort that took time, but we now see the results — a new international business investing in our community — and we are so proud to have them here,” Charleston Area Alliance President and CEO Matt Ballard said.
Charleston will be JPN Precision’s US headquarters, with its initial sales and design office located in the Charleston Area Alliance business incubator.
“We are pleased to welcome JPN Precision to Kanawha County,” Kanawha County Commissioner Dave Hardy said. “We will continue to partner with the Alliance and our State partners on attracting diversified investments to our county.”
Like many West Virginia businesses, JPN Precision is a family-owned business, and its parent company, TEKNIA, has spanned more than five generations of family members working in the company.
“We are privileged to have JPN Precision in Charleston and in West Virginia. The company’s expertise in precision manufacturing is an asset that is needed in our region. As we assisted the company in visiting potential customers, many of whom contract this type of work out of state, they were enthusiastic to find a WV based company that can perform this type of computer-aided manufacturing,” Ballard said. “We applaud Governor Tomblin and his team for continuing the state’s strong history with Japan.”
JPN Precision is the 21st Japanese company to invest in the Mountain State, and joins several others that have chosen Kanawha County as its central location.
