Wild, Wonderful West Virginia today announced air dates for a special featuring The Mountain Music Trail. The special will air at 7 p.m. Sunday, April 3 and 10:30 p.m. Friday, April 15 on West Virginia Public Broadcasting. This project is the culmination of a partnership between Wild, Wonderful West Virginia and Mountain Stage– a production of West Virginia Public Broadcasting.
“We’re excited to share the Mountain Music Trail from the perspective of the folks who really bring it to life,” Commissioner of Tourism Amy Shuler Goodwin said. “Each vignette is interconnected by the sense of tradition and pride found in every community along the trail. West Virginia’s musical landscape offers many opportunities to experience Real. mountain music–from bluegrass to rock and roll.”

Everything has a story, and the people and places along this 200 mile heritage trail are ready to share their rich folkways with anyone who is willing to stop and listen.”
“The Mountain Music Trail is a unique travel experience where visitors can immerse themselves in the rich tradition of music and dance that is so much a part of our West Virginia mountain culture,” Cara Rose, Executive Director of the Pocahontas County CVB said. “The Mountain Music Trail is a great reason to travel scenic Route 219, explore the region’s attractions and listen to distinctly Appalachian music.”
The Mountain Music Trail consists of venues throughout five counties in eastern West Virginia that came together to promote and present the traditional music, dance and folkways of the Allegheny Mountain region. Several months ago, the West Virginia Public Broadcasting production team took to the road to capture the essence of the trail, which runs through Tucker, Randolph, Pocahontas, Greenbrier and Monroe counties. The resulting five vignette special will air on the West Virginia Public Broadcasting main channel. Statewide channel listings can be found at http://wvpublic.org/find-wvpb-television.
