In celebration of National Volunteer Week, April 15 – 21, West Virginia University Hospitals-East’s City Hospital recognized its 150 auxilians, volunteers and chaplains by hosting an appreciation luncheon on Tuesday at the Holiday Inn.
Members of the City Hospital auxiliary were celebrated for their 2011 fund raising efforts which resulted in $15,000 being donated to patient care services at the hospital, while 16 clergy were recognized for their volunteer efforts on behalf of the hospital’s chaplaincy program. Ninety three City Hospital volunteers were honored for donating over 203,000 cumulative hours of service to the hospital, 19,441 in 2011 alone.
On behalf of the WVUH-East City Hospital, Chief Administrative Officer Anthony P. Zelenka expressed appreciation for the efforts of all three groups and thanked them for their dedication and loyal service to City Hospital and the WVUH-East health system.

Copenhaver has the most cumulative hours to date with 11,788.
