The awards ceremony for the Dan O’Hanlon Essay Competition at Marshall University will take place at 4:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 17, in the John Marshall Room of the Memorial Student Center on MU’s Huntington campus.
Dr. David J. Pittenger, dean of Marshall’s College of Liberal Arts, said the essay competition represents Marshall’s commitment to help students study the Constitution and understand the value of being an educated and engaged citizen. It is sponsored by the Simon D. Perry Center for Constitutional Democracy, and part of the university’s annual celebration of Constitution Week.
This year’s theme is “The Individual’s Voice in a Democracy – The Right to Vote.” The first- and second-place winners will be announced at the ceremony.
