Bring the whole family for an evening of spectacular events as Kenya Safari Acrobats performs as part of West Virginia University at Parkersburg’s Distinguished Performance Series. The show will be Thursday, Sept. 20, at 7 p.m. in the college activities center.
Hailing from the heart of Africa, the Kenya Safari Acrobats offers a unique cultural experience. This awe-inspiring and dynamic dance troupe takes acrobatics to exhilarating extremes. The group members learned acrobatics as children on the beaches of Kenya as a means to break free from an impoverished country. Now they serve as artistic ambassadors for Kenya as they travel the globe, entertaining and inspiring audiences of all ages.
The Kenya Safari Acrobats perform a non-stop ride of gravity-defying human pyramids, balancing, tumbling, limbo dancing, hurling through hoops, and breathtaking contortions, all while clapping to a joyful Benga Beat. A unique and eye-popping blend of traditional arts and circus skills in classic African style, these performers combine artistry with humor and playfulness.
The Kenya Safari Acrobats have performed in Tanzania, Japan, Canada, Mexico, and throughout the United States including the White House, Walt Disney World, the Super Bowl, and at Atlantic Hawks, Chicago Bulls, Los Angeles Lakers, Miami Heat and Orlando Magic games.
Tickets for Distinguished Performance Series shows are $10 for adults and $5 for students. WVU Parkersburg students may purchase special advance tickets for themselves and one guest for $2 each in the college business office. All tickets at the door will be regular price. An additional spring performance will be announced at a later date.
