As West Virginia celebrates its sesquicentennial, Theatre West Virginia launches its 53rd season with “Honey in the Rock,” the longest playing Civil War drama in the nation. “Honey in the Rock” is the story of the state’s tumultuous birth during America’s most divisive conflict. It is a vibrant show, filled with conflict, intrigue, music and dance—all shadowed by the romance and tragedy of the Civil War.

“Honey in the Rock” runs in repertory with “Hatfields & McCoys,” the true story of the famous feud between the McCoys of Kentucky and West Virginia’s Hatfield clan. Theatre West Virginia will also present “The Wizard of Oz” and the story of the Mountain State’s native son, Homer Hickam, whose life in the McDowell County town of Coalwood was chronicled in his best-selling book “Rocket Boys” and the movie “October Sky.”

All Theatre West Virginia productions take place in spectacular Grandview National Park’s Cliffside Amphitheatre, part of the New River Gorge National River. Shows run in rotation, June 11 through August 25. Online tickets and specific scheduling information are available at www.theatrewestvirginia.com.
