Breast Cancer Topic of Community Seminar

In recognition of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, University Healthcare and the WVU Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center Eastern Division will sponsor a community mini-medical school program on breast cancer.

The seminar will be held on Tuesday, October 15 in the WVU Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center on the Berkeley Medical Center campus.  The guest speakers are both board certified physicians on the medical staff at Jefferson Medical Center.

Angela Oglesby, MD, practices at the WVU Women’s Health Center in Ranson and Thomas Alewine, MD, is a radiologist at Jefferson Medical Center.  Both physicians are also assistant professors for the WVU School of Medicine.

Early detection and prevention of breast cancer will be the focus of the presentation.  Attendees will learn how to recognize the early signs of breast cancer, and the medical/surgical techniques that help detect and treat breast cancer.

Registration begins at 6:30 pm with the program to follow from 7 – 8 pm.  Light refreshments will be offered at the conclusion of the seminar.

This community mini-medical school program is being offered free to the public as a community service of University Healthcare and the WVU Health Sciences Center Eastern Division.  Reservations are strongly recommended.  For more information or to register for this program, phone 304-264-1287, ext. 31760.
