Mardi Gras Casino & Resort officials are pleased to announce the winner of the fourth “Chips for Charity” Poker Tournament: the American Red Cross and its player Charles Roskovensky.

“We were proud to present Charles and the Red Cross a check for $5,000 at last night’s tournament,” said General Manager Bob Lagg. “This was, by far, the toughest competition we’ve seen, and he played a great game against his opponents.”

Hosted exclusively for charitable play, 40 charities participated in last night’s event. John Giroir, President and CEO of YMCA at Kanawha Valley, came in second, winning $2,500 for the organization.

Third place went to Coach Kidd, of Electric 102.7 FM, who won $1,000 for the Make-a-Wish Foundation. Participants who came in places four through 10 received $500, and all other participating charities received $100. Overall, Mardi Gras Casino & Resort gave a total of $15,000 in charitable donations.

“We are very thankful for the opportunity to give back to the community,” said Lagg. “It was a great turnout and we’re excited to see so many of our local non-profit organizations participating. As always, we are proud to be able to host this great event.”

The Mardi Gras Casino & Resort is located off I-64, Exit 47 in Cross Lanes, W.Va.
